Tell me a bit about your background?
My name is Sherie. I’m Canadian and I have been living in Bahrain with my Saudi husband and children since 2014. I’m a jewellery designer and artist. My mother and I opened our jewellery and home décor shop located in Hamala Hills in 2016.
Are there any particular designers/artists that inspire you?
Shirin Neshat: Shirin Neshat is a Persian visual artist. Her unusual combination of black and white photography, free style calligraphy and unmissable, Cleopatraesque eye liner style won me over when I laid eyes on her work at the age of 17.
Ana Strumpf: Ana strumpf is a Brazillian illustrator and all rounded artist. Her work is a vibrant feast for the eyes!
What was the first art/design you made?
I come from a family of artists. My father is an architect and my mother has always been the jack of all trades when it comes to anything art related:- interior designer, antique dealer, furniture and jewellery designer.... the list is endless. Therefore, art has always played a huge role in our daily lives. I started designing/assembling my first serious pieces of jewellery from the age of 9.
What's next for you? Do you have any new projects in the pipeline?
Well, there are always new projects! I can’t sit back without being engaged in my creativity zone. There are a few collaborations in the works, but I’m not going to spoil it for you! You have to wait and see...
What would you advise to anyone who would want to start a new venture that leads to success?
If you love what you do, there should be nothing stopping you. Always remember the sky's the limit. Make the effort and if it’s meant to work out, the paths will unfold before your very own eyes.
Tell us something we don't know yet about you!
I have been told I have healing powers!! Lol!
